Ezra A. Johnson is a fifth generation Texan who grew up on San Antonio’s near north side.  He is pleased to be part of a diverse energy law transactional practice with a focus on assisting land owners navigate the exciting world of upstream and midstream hydrocarbon resources development, marketing and transportation. As part of this practice, Mr. Johnson negotiates oil and gas leases, land sales and commercial lease contracts, surface use agreements, salt water disposal well leases, asset purchase and sale agreements and pipeline and gathering line agreements between land owners and oil and gas operators.

Professional Qualifications

  • Admitted to practice law in Texas (2008) and New York (2010), and the United States of Federal Claims (2016)
  • Education:  St. Mary's University School of Law, (J.D., 2008). During law school, Mr. Johnson was a senior associate editor of the St. Mary's Law Journal and Magister of the legal honors fraternity Phi Delta Phi. Mr. Johnson was also inducted into the John M. Harlan Honors Society and the Order of Barristers.  He annotated cases for the 2007 supplement to the Seventh Edition of the Texas Rules of Evidence Manual, prepared case updates for the Federal Evidence Tactics Manual, assisted with cite checking, editing, revising and updating the Matthew Bender Texas Criminal Practice Guide and Thompson West's Texas Practice: Criminal Practice and Procedure. The University of Texas at Austin (B.M., 1999).  During college at UT, Mr. Johnson was a member of the Longhorn Band and the U.T. Opera program.  Mr. Johnson also played at Carnegie Hall in New York City in February 1998 as a member of the University of Texas Wind Ensemble.
